The African Moors of Spain ruled for 7 centuries, most people know this but what's often left out is the beauty that was brought to Spain. Most people know that the Moors were Muslim. What left out is that these Muslim Moor coexisted with other ethnicities and religious groups. They brought running water and hygyne. In J. A. Rogers books, he points out how "Nature Knows No Coler-line". In the "From Man to Superman", he shows the importance of the "Retort". "History is written by the victors".

This song is based a music concept that was inspired by one of my favorite saxophonist Joe Henderson, I call this style, "Avant-Moor". (to be explained at another time.) Also “Retort” is inspired by the compositions and musicianship of Chicago native Marquis Hill. Marquis used to come and “sit in” at the jam sessions I used to host at the Negro League Cafe on the Southside of Chicago in the early 2000’s.
