about

This song is a dedication to the 1920's author J. A. Rogers and his book "From Man To Superman" . The book has a caption on top that reads, “AN EXPOSE’ ON THE STUPIDITY OF RACISM”. That word expose’ resonated with me. The melody to the song revealed itself to me when I was working on some melodic themes and variations. I was trying to take the motif(s) and use it to enclose a single note. (Modulations) While also observing the "Rule of Three". It is reminiscent of Ornette Coleman's "Roundtrip" that featured (saxophonist) Dewey Redman, (bassist) Jimmy Garrison and (drummer) Elvin Jones.

Simply put this song is about being tired of waking up to find out another African American man has died. I'm not sure the total but it seemed like from 2019 - 2020 every morning the news was talking about another "Black Man" shot or murdered by the police. (The crazy thing is I was reading the book "From Man to Superman" by the author J. A. Rogers and this book read as if the content was current. In other words it seems that the race relations in America hasn't change in a hundred years. (Or has never change) Pandemics, Lynchings (aka police brutality today), Systemic Racism, "Red Summer", etc. I was shocked to read the book to discover so much sounded the same. Well not in shock… but you know. Wowed I guess.

This proves "if you don't know your history you're, destined to repeated".

It seems that We've Learned Nothing, So this is what frustration sounds like.

The story is in the music 🎶. Music is therapy.
